The south of the trade fair district

The Protestant Church is relinquishing the plot of land and making parts of the church building available. Amidst the cluster of high-rises in the trade fair district there is an opportunity to add to the high-rises along Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage. Continuing the spatial vision that also applied to the location for a high-rise on the site of the former police HQ, the church could be kept below the continuous height of the eaves between the main station and the trade fair complex. Only to the rear of it, set back, could there be a location for a high-rise that is acceptable in terms of space.

Forming the southern perimeter of the cluster of the trade fair and Europaviertel districts, a purposeful addition to the existing Post Office high-rise on Hafenstraße is planned.

Location: Mainzer Landstraße/Platz der Republik

The location on Platz der Republik is at a pivotal point between the row of high-rises on the northern side of Mainzer Landstraße and the cluster of high-rises adjoining to the north in the trade fair district. This special position in the urban fabric is intended to be emphasized and advanced with a view to the high-rise silhouette growing together. The exact location should be positioned as far as possible in the southwest in order to minimize the impact of shadows being cast on the residential quarters in the Westend district that adjoin to the south.
